Assigning a Crop Zone to a field is the final step of the Farm Field Tree setup process. Once Crop Zones are assigned, Production Records, such as Plans and Tasks, can be linked to a farm and field.
How Can I Assign Crop Zones to Fields?
• Mass Crop Assigner
• Single Field Crop Assignment
Mass Crop Assigner
To assign a Crop to multiple fields at the same time, navigate to the 1) Properties menu, then go to 2) Bulk Actions. Finally, choose 3) Bulk Edit.
Next, 1) Select the desired fields. Then choose 2) Edit Crop Zones > 3) Add Crop Zones. Change or Delete Crop Zones are also available options, if needed.
If an active Crop Season exists, it will be pre-selected. If not, a new one can be created in this process. Then, search for the desired Crop and click the Save button.
The Change Summary on the right-side of the screen will then populate with which field(s) have a Crop Zone added, changed or removed. After the summary has been reviewed, select Complete.
Any Crop Zones that have been added, changed, or removed will now be reflected within the Properties menu for the current selected Crop Season.
Single Field Crop Assignment
To assign a Crop Zone to a single field, navigate to the 1) Properties menu, 2) Select a farm and then 3) Select a field in the Farm Field Tree list, then select 3) + New Property > 4) Crop Zone.
First, select an existing Crop Season, or select + Create New Crop Season, if needed.
If a new Crop Season is needed, it is recommended to name the Crop Season by the calendar year, such as 2025 or 2026. This allows for all crops harvested within the calendar year to be combined into a single crop season.
For operations that include double cropping, or spring and fall crops within the same field, the crop season can instead represent these specific crop plantings. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- 2025 Spring Snap Beans and 2025 Fall Snap Beans
- 2025 Wheat and 2025 Soybeans
Once the Crop Season Name is entered, select the Target Dates (Start Date - End Date) for the new Crop Season.
Next, select the 1) Crop. The 2) Crop Zone Name will auto-populate based on the selected crop but can be edited.
The 3) Crop Zone's boundary will be identical to the field's boundary but can be adjusted to the area of the field that is planted with the selected crop. Additionally, the Crop Zone 4) Reported Area can be entered if the Boundary Area does not represent the true acreage of the Crop Zone.
Select 5) Save to finish the Crop Zone assignment.
The new Crop Zone will now be displayed within the Properties menu for the selected Crop Season.
