Farm management practices can lead to a field being split into multiple crops, varieties, etc. within the original field boundary, and it is important that each of these areas are properly accounted for when creating records, such as plans and tasks, by splitting the field into crop zones.
To begin splitting a field boundary into crop zones within Cropwise Financials, navigate to the 1) Properties menu, 2) Select a field in the Farm Field Tree list, then select 3) + New Property > 4) Crop Zone.
Within the Add a Crop Zone menu, the original field boundary can be divided with the Split Tool.
The Split Tool allows a field to be precisely divided by placing boundary points throughout the field boundary. After selecting the tool, click to set your first point outside the boundary, then continue adding points with single clicks. Once the new boundary line is set, double-click the last point outside the boundary to complete the crop zone split.
Once the crop zone is identified, select the boundary on the map and enter the Crop Season and Crop Zone details. You can also enter the Reported Area to update the crop zone to the known boundary size. After completing the Crop Zone information, click the arrow next to the Save button and select Save and Add another Crop zone.
To assign another crop zone to the field, the process of splitting the original field boundary will need to be repeated. Notice that the originally created crop zone will be shaded within the map and can be re-traced using the Split Tool to add the boundary line.
When the additional crop zone area has been properly identified, select the boundary on the map and enter the Crop Season and Crop Zone details. You can also enter the Reported Area to update the crop zone to the known boundary size. After completing the Crop Zone information, select Save.
If more than two crop zones exist within the field, select the arrow next to the Save button, choose Save and Add another Crop zone, and complete the previous steps until all crop zones have been identified. If necessary, multiple boundary lines can be drawn to correctly identify a crop zone. Select the portion of the field that needs to be edited, re-activate the Split Tool, and identify the additional boundary lines.
After the crop zones have been saved, they will show in the Properties menu upon selecting a Field. These new crop zones are now available to select when creating records such as Plans and Tasks.
