Fixed Points serve as map annotations within the Cropwise Protector organization, offering location markers for specific items. The currently available categories for fixed points include Rain Gauges, Generic Points, and Traps.
**Users can create/drop a fixed point pin anywhere on the map and do not have to be standing within a field boundary to do so. The fixed points themselves don't have to be within a field boundary and can be located anywhere on the map. The app will drop the fixed point on the users geolocation or wherever the user forced their location to on the map.
The user must either be physically standing where they wish to drop the fixed point, or force their location on the map. To learn how to force your location, click here.
Once the user has the correct location of the fixed point visible on the map, navigate to the green tile titled Fixed points.
If this is the first fixed point that the user is creating, they could either select the green button that says +Install new fixed point or click the + button located in the top-right corner of the screen. If this is not the first fixed point being added to the farm, users will see a list of all their current fixed points on this screen and will click the + button in the top-right corner to add another one.
There are three fixed point types to select from. Trap: This fixed point is used to show where traps are physically located on the map. This fixed point is commonly used to show the placement of pheromone traps but can be used for any trap that the user has.
Generic point: This fixed point can be used to show the location of anything on the operation. It drops a pin as an annotation to show somethings physical location. This pin can be used at the users discretion but is commonly used for showing the location of well heads, yield digs, or an entry way to a field.
Rain gauge: This fixed point shows the location of a physical rain gauge on the map. It's important to know that the Rain gauge fixed point does not calculate rainfall and track it in the Cropwise Protector Scouting app.
Select the type of fixed point needed from the list then click Install.
A list of the fields within the farm will populate and the user can validate or add fields they wish to include. First validate and/or add fields, then click the green Next button at the bottom of the screen.
The user must enter a name for the fixed point, in this case a rain gauge. The name will default to be Default Rain Gauge Template but can be edited by the user. After naming the rain gauge, click on the green Take photo and finish button at the bottom of the screen to continue.
The scouting app will open the users phone camera and the user will need to capture an image of the rain gauge or other fixed point in order to complete the fixed point set up. After taking the photo, the user will see a green checkmark on the screen that reads Done, indicating that the fixed point was created successfully and is visible on the map in the app as well as the web portal.
