Cropwise Imagery has introduced Anomaly Detection to proactively monitor and identify when areas of attention arise within a field. Anomaly Detection refers to the process of identifying differences in current plant growth versus a five-year field baseline average. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent crop damage, reduce potential yield loss, and optimize resource use, leading to healthier crops and better outcomes for the farm.
How can I setup and utilize Anomaly Detection?
• Assigning Crops
• Anomaly Detection Analysis
Crop Assignment
An active Corn, Soybean, or Potato crop must be assigned to a field before Anomaly Detection can be enabled.
- If the Cropwise organization is used in Cropwise Financials, make the crop assignments in Cropwise Financials. Click here for help assigning crops in Cropwise Financials!
- If the Cropwise organization is not used in Cropwise Financials, the crop assignments will be made in Cropwise Imagery.
To assign crops within Cropwise Imagery for Anomaly Detection, Activate Anomaly Detection and then select the Gear Icon.
Select the desired field(s) within the map, or on the list, and assign the desired crop. Repeat the process to assign additional crops. Save Changes to complete the process.
Anomaly Detection Analysis
Once the crops have been assigned, Anomaly Detection continuously, and automatically, will compare the field's current NDVI values against its baseline map. A deviation from historical NDVI patterns triggers a pop-up message stating "Anomalies detected!". Click Show me to view the detected anomalies.
Note: This comparison will begin once the field's average NDVI value is ≥ 0.5 on the 0-1 NDVI scale.
Anomalies will be displayed on the Map. Select a field and hover over each point for more details.
Click an Anomaly to view the current image in comparison with the Baseline. Additionally, all anomalies within the same field can be viewed in the same window.
For each detected anomaly, a Scouting Note can be created for further evaluation, the alert can be Ignored, or Feedback can be provided to improve the system.
Additionally, past images which contained Anomalies can be viewed within the Image List.
