To utilize the tools across Cropwise Explorer, the farms and field boundaries must first be added to the system. This article will explain the processes available within Cropwise Explorer to create new farms and fields.
How can I add Farms and Fields into Cropwise Explorer?
• Creating a New Farm
• Creating New Fields
• Upload Files
• Draw or Detect Fields
Creating a New Farm
To create a new farm, begin by logging into Cropwise Explorer. Once signed in, the MyCropwise page will be displayed. Select a Workspace to begin.
Next, select an Organization to work within.
Once the Organization's Farm List is displayed, select + New Farm.
1) Name the farm and identify the 2) Country and 3) location for the new farm. 4) Select Save.
Creating New Fields
After creating the new farm, select Add fields.
A field can be created within Cropwise Explorer in two different ways. The processes to add fields includes Upload files and Draw or detect options. The option to Insert Size should be avoided.
Upload Files
Follow this process to upload field boundary files to the new farm. Note: This process allows for uploading field boundaries for one farm at a time.
Drag & drop the boundary files, or click to browse the file explorer for the boundary files. A single farm can be uploaded at one time, with no limit on the number of fields.
Search for and select the desired shapefile folder and then select Open.
Note: Shapefiles have individual .shp, .shx and .dbf files that need to be within the same zipped folder.
After uploading the boundary files, select Next.
The Select information menu provides the ability to set the field name for boundaries that are being imported. The desired choice will be an attribute that contains anything similar to Name or Field Name. After selecting the appropriate file attribute select Next to continue in the process.
The fields will now display within the map and are available for any necessary edits. Complete the upload process by selecting Import.
Draw or Detect Fields
Drawing Tools
To draw a new field boundary, start by turning off the Auto-detect fields toggle in the upper-left corner and activating the desired Drawing tool, Polygon or Circle.
To draw a Polygon, click along the border of the field to identify boundary points. Select the first boundary point, or double-click, to close the shape. Adjust the Field name as needed and then select the Green Checkmark. Repeat this process for any additional fields. Once all fields are added, select Save.
To draw a Circle, click the center point of the field and drag the circle to the desired size. Adjust the Field name as needed and then select the Green Checkmark. Repeat this process for any additional fields. Once all fields are added, select Save.
Field Detection
To use Field Detection, activate Auto-detect fields. Select a boundary or boundaries. Adjust the Field name as needed and then select the Green Checkmark. Repeat this process for any additional fields. Once all fields are added, select Save.
Completed New Farm
After completing the farm and field creation process, the newly created farm will then be available within Cropwise Explorer. The satellite imagery will begin processing, with the most recent images becoming available within approximately 30 minutes.
