The Field Insights Report powered by Cropwise Imagery provides a quick access view into a field's plant health, promoting a new way to track and monitor field and crop performance. Delivered through AgriEdge Specialists in select markets, the report provides insight into a field’s changes over the past two weeks, which helps identify notable changes.
What's Included in the Report?
Select fields from the Cropwise Imagery organization will be added to the report, and each field's section of information will include the NDVI Percent Change over the last two weeks, Field Variability based on the newest image, NDVI Images, NDVI Images with Contrast View enabled, and Visual Images.
Note: The report is intended to be read from left to right, with the oldest image and information for a field being on the left-hand side of the report while the newest image and information will be on the right. The oldest image will be 14 days old (+/- 3 days), while the middle image will be 7 days old (+/- 3 days).
1. NDVI Percent Change - The NDVI Percent Change value provides a quick view into whether a field's NDVI value has increased or decreased from week-to-week. A positive value indicates increased plant growth, while a negative value indicates a decline.
The percentage change value is calculated by using the formula below:
NDVI Percent Change = New Image NDVI Value - Old Image NDVI Value x 100
Old Image NDVI Value
2. Field Variability - The Variability category assigned to a field is based on the most recent image and measures the uniformity of the field's plant health and performance. There are five variability categories ranging from Very Low to Very High.
3. NDVI Images - The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) images are the most common method used to measure plant health and performance. The amount of light that is absorbed by the plants in the field is measured in the 0 to 1 range, with 0 being unhealthy, displayed as Red, and 1 being very healthy, displayed as Green.
4. NDVI Images with Contrast View - An image with Contrast View enables better understanding of the field's plant health by enhancing the differences so that they are displayed more prominently than in the standard NDVI Image.
5. Visual Images - Visual Images are what we would see as humans looking down from space. Use this view to check for clouds or other visual differences in the images.
What Additional Information is Available?
Recommended for Scouting - A field can be marked as Recommended for Scouting to direct additional scouting efforts. A field will be designated as Recommended for Scouting if: 1) the NDVI Percent Change is positive over the previous two weeks and 2) the Field Variability is categorized as High or Very High. Additionally, a filter can be enabled to Show only recommended for scouting fields.
How can I Interact with the Report?
Expand Images - An field's image can be expanded by selecting within the image window. The three image dates will be available to view upon selection.
