Cropwise Imagery has introduced the ability to view and analyze soil layer data alongside plant health imagery. This soil data is made available by the United States Geological Survey, and can help when investigating differences within a field. Variables such as soil texture and slope are important factors that can impact crop performance.
To begin viewing the soil data, select Soil Map in the Map Controls menu.
While hovering over different soil types, Soil Information will be displayed within the upper left-hand corner. The soil information includes soil texture and the area that this soil type covers within the active field.
The Soil Map can also be utilized in Side-By-Side to allow for comparison between NDVI imagery and soil types.
Additionally, the color assigned to each soil type might need to be adjusted to allow for higher visibility or to suit user preference. To change the assigned color, right-click within the applicable soil type, hover over Soil Color, and then select the desired color.
